Each researcher produces approximately 950kg of non-recyclable laboratory plastic per year, which amounts to 5.5 million tonnes per year globally. The biochip research method represented by microarrays can reduce the amount of plastic discharged from research and development to less than 1/100 because the biochip research verifies hundreds of thousands of experimental results at once, and is a representative example of the green labs movement that is spreading globally. It is establishing itself as an experimental technique.
